Insurance, minus the headache

We keep the insurance part simple, so you can get back to the rest of your life.

When plans go sideways

Real life happened.
We were there.

Different countries, different problems, one less thing for our members to worry about.

How help works

Getting care is hard enough.
We make our part easy.

Hospital or everyday doctor visit, here is what to do and what happens next.

If it is a hospital

Get the care you need. Call us in.

  1. Go to the nearest hospital and ask them to call our 24/7 hotline.

  2. We speak with the hospital directly and confirm your cover while they look after you.

  3. For covered stays, we pay the hospital. You do not have to front the bill, and there is no deductible.

Need transport? Ambulance by road, air, water or rail is included, along with medical repatriation home.

Your job is to feel better

Our job is to help with necessary treatment and be available 24/7.

For everyday care

See a doctor. Send us the bill.

  1. Choose any licensed doctor. There is no network and no pre-approval.

  2. Take a photo of the invoice and upload it from your phone.

  3. Then we reimburse you. Native pays within three business days. Traveler allows up to two weeks and is often faster.

4.1/5 from 969 Trustpilot reviews

“I was sceptical as the bills came to around $1,300 and you hear horror stories of companies not paying. Not with Genki. 100% of claims paid.”

Help me choose
The honest part

What is not
covered.

Good insurance should be clear about the limits. These are the main ones to know before you choose a plan.

  • Pre-existing conditions

Symptoms or diagnoses from the twelve months before your policy starts are not covered.

  • Dental, mental health, maternity and check-ups on Traveler

Traveler focuses on new illnesses and injuries. Native Premium adds routine care, with a twelve-month wait for dental and maternity.

  • The truly extreme stuff

BASE jumping, wingsuit flying, bull riding and sports you are paid to compete in are not covered.

  • Travel problems that are not medical

This is health insurance, so trip cancellations, flight delays, lost luggage, theft and personal liability are not covered.

  • Two extra details worth knowing

US and Canada: emergency-only cover for the first seven days of each stay, with an upgrade available. Joining abroad without prior cover: a fourteen-day wait for routine care; emergencies are covered from day one.

Fair questions

Things we would
ask too.

A hand holding a phone with simple chat bubbles and a confirmation check beside travel documents.
Okay, but will Genki actually pay?

That is the question that matters. We have 969 Trustpilot reviews and 77% of them are five stars. Members often mention how quick and straightforward their claims were. For covered hospital stays, we pay the hospital directly. For regular doctor visits, submit the claim online and reimbursement typically arrives within days.

Which plan is for me?

If you already have long-term insurance at home, including public healthcare, Traveler adds cover for new illnesses and injuries while you are abroad for up to twelve months. If life abroad is your new normal, Native can replace your home cover and offers options for dental, mental health, maternity and preventive care.

Can I join when I am already abroad?

Yes. You can sign up online from wherever you are. If you join abroad without prior cover, there is a fourteen-day waiting period when only emergencies are covered. After that, the rest of your plan begins.

What is not covered?

Traveler does not cover pre-existing conditions, routine dental, mental health, maternity or preventive care. Native Premium adds dental, mental health, maternity and preventive care, subject to the policy terms and waiting periods. Neither plan covers activities such as BASE jumping or wingsuit flying, or travel issues like cancellation, lost luggage, theft and personal liability.

I have public healthcare at home. Do I still need Genki?

Public healthcare often offers limited or no cover outside your home country. Traveler works alongside your existing public plan and covers you at licensed doctors and hospitals worldwide. If you are moving abroad long term, Native can replace your home cover.

What do I do if I need a hospital?

Go to the nearest hospital and ask them to call our 24/7 emergency hotline. We coordinate with any licensed hospital and arrange direct payment for covered stays. Ambulance transport by road, air, water and rail is included, as is medical repatriation home when needed.

Can I still surf, dive and ski?

Yes. Traveler and Native include climbing, cycling, diving, hiking, kitesurfing, mountain biking, martial arts, skydiving, skiing, snowboarding and surfing without an extra add-on. Truly extreme activities such as BASE jumping, bull riding and wingsuit flying are excluded.

How long will reimbursement take?

Covered hospital stays are paid directly. For regular doctor claims, Native reimburses within three business days. Traveler allows up to two weeks, although many members report receiving their money sooner. One reviewer submitted a claim at 11:00 and received confirmation at 11:01.

Let's get the insurance bit sorted.

Choose your cover online, even if you are already abroad. It only takes a few minutes.
